I cracked the core of an old-A wheel last week and snapped the forktube on a pro model fork today. Guess it's time for an upgrade.

That's last years model. The 2012 model has a stronger/thicker internally tapered steerer tube... I'm sure it'll be warrantied.

i wonder if it would have made a difference if they used a starnut instead of threading the inside of the fork. maybe even an aluminum washer welded inside and a nylock bolt to compress it from the bottom of the washer. we should be staying away from threads and slits all together, not finding more ways to use them.

Im pretty sure lucky NW forks were a 4130 tube, and aluminum legs.
