Hardcore music

Most of the guys in that style of hardcore bands are complete dirt. Thats why I try to never care about a band past there music.

Yeah it's not cool, i'm not trying to sound like a pansie or anything but it's just weak when people talk shit on other people no matter what it is, bands, scooter riding whatever the hell it is. I mean TGI has a pretty solid fanbase and they have good lyrics and are good positive dudes I mean shit and then some band just bashes them for no reason. Pretty weak

I completely agree with that. Thats why the hardcore scene sucks, because all the people who listen to it get that same tough guy mentality.

My youth leader actually showed me For Today at a church retreat this weekend and I think it's pretty cool how some of these bands are religious. But what is that classified as?

Yeah dont get tied up in the all the sub-genre bullshit. Consider it hardcore/metalcore that happens to be religious. I mentioned them earlier in this thread, but check out Gideon. Theyre religious and soooo good.

iseesounds, Ill definitely look into that label and post some stuff in here more often as I think of it.

I see sounds I think its funny that you say of mice and men is a pussy band yet you like dance gavin dance and a skylit drive and your calling of mice and men pussy to me that doesnt make sence

I agree that A Skylit Drive is pussycore but Dance Gavin Dance is far from it. They're progressive and actually great musicians and lyricists unlike basically every band on Rise Records.

Edit: lrn2spellbro

Rise does have alot of cookie cut out metalcore bands but my fav band on rise is miss may i they have thereown sound and there instrumentals are alot more tech than most bands on rise

Theyre alright, but I STRONGLY disagree with their music being "tech". I saw the AP tour with them, Like Moths to Flames, and TGI not too long ago and i left before them. They do have a more unique sound, but I wouldnt consider them very far off from what youre calling "cookie cut out" metalcore.

But on the subject of techy metalcore, with their own style, the new This or the Apocalypse albums pretty cool. Definitely different for them.

And before anyone brings up some dumb arguement about them being generic because of breakdowns/chugs/ or whatever you wanna whine about, listen to how much the pay attention to the actual music, harmonies, transitions and stuff like that instead of just being br00tal.

Of Mice and Men's old stuff isnt that good, but most of their songs on the new album The Flood has a couple of good songs. Plus theyre some of the nicest guys I've seen in the music industry especially Austin Carlile, just check out the song The Depths and watch a couple of interviews and you can see what I'm talking about.

yo anybody into floorpunch or powertrip?

My buddy listens to both of them, I haven't checked them out yet

They remind me of a more "br00tal" August Burns Red almost. Same kind of techy stuff but a bit higher pitched on the guitar.

Also for anyone that likes Dance Gavin Dance, this is them without a clean vocalist. Its their side project Secret Band. In my opinion Jon Mess as an unclean vocalist with his newer sound is better by himself.

I seen like moths to flames at scream it like you mean it over the summer they killed it attack attack headlined it and if any of you guys listen to them how do you feel about caleb shomo leaving bc I don't like their new single its not attack attack at all they should of at least had a name change I respect caleb a lot tho he left bc he was suicidal and had a eating disorder he even had a really good speech at the show and he told about what he was going through I do respect that he is getting help and supposibly he might start a new band

Well, maybe with their new vocalist they won't suck. I don't mean to be rude but all of the elctronica/metalcore shit they do just gets annoying. The only song I have even remotely liked by them is Smokahontas, and thats until it gets all electronic. After that point it blows.

*Be prepared for an opinionated post. Dont get butthurt.

Yeah, Im not trying to be a dick but Attack Attack is the definition of a scene kid -core band. Screaming and clean vocals can go together good but not when you go from death metal, gutteral screaming to high pitched faggy clean vocals. One extreme to the other doesnt sound good unless you can some how pull off a sick transition. And keyboards/electro bullshit ruin any band in my mind.

I found a super generic hardcore sounding breakdown in a thrash song haha. Thought Id share it here.

Its about 2 and a half minutes in. Not to change the genre, but Havok fucking shreds.
