who gives a sh*t WHY someone rides their scooter? honestly, as long as they RIDE one, they're doing good for the sport. its not like everyone wears their motives on their sleeves for EVERYONE in the whole world to see. twan's a great rider, and i'm sure he's doing a great job of helping the sport grow. john is also an amazing rider, and im just as sure when people see him ride, they enjoy it.

You guys really need to get past the fact that "he/she rides for this reason.. etc." and just appreciate the fact that we all ride and can relate and communicate with one another. if you enjoy riding, then just f*cking do it. doesn't matter why you do it, as long as you pull some form of enjoyment out of it, then do it. honestly, i've been riding longer than 80-90% of the people on this site, and my views of riding a scooter stiill the same as the day i first picked one up -- "holy sh!t, this is alot of fun."

John - you're an inspiration to many of us, and you're an amazing rider. I personally feel the same way you do about riding and the reasons you ride. I've never sent out "sponsor me" videos and I never would seek to get sponsored. I ride because it brings me so much joy and I love learning new things. But, I do think that's YOU'RE stance on something, and you shouldn't have to impose you're view of something on other people, or lose respect for them if they don't feel the same way you do. This sport needs both types of riders, the John's and the Twan's. Democrats need Republicans, God needs Satan, and vice versa, etc etc.

Twan - I like you man, you're a beast rider and I think you deserve your sponsorships because you've worked hard to get to the level you're at, and that kind of commitment and balls needs to be rewarded. Your motives for riding work as well because it helps the sport grow immensely on the business side of things, and gets us recognized by new companies that may be willing to support us. In the end that's mainly what most of us are hoping for. Sometimes you can be a bit cocky or say things like "oh that was all first try p.s." that doesn't really need to be said, and makes people kind of iffy bout you, so just think before you speak because people will love your riding much more if you're a crazy good rider (which you are), AND a way cool guy about it. continue to help kids in the park and help riders of all skill levels, people will respect you much more for it.

Chris - all you did was throw gasoline on a dying flame, your post was worthless and solved nothing. try to be a bit more diplomatic and helpful rather than an instigator of more trouble than this thread is really worth.

I've never met any of you, and I don't know all the underlying drama about this, but I've read every post in here and that is what I think about it.

Let me rephrase:

For those of you who think Twan's "reasons" for riding are strange or twisted, one of the following and/or multiple criteria probably applies to you: you have never lived out from under your parents financially secure blanket, you don't work and/or have never worked, you have never had a sponsor REALLY depending on you for promotion, you yourself have a strange and twisted view of how the adult world works because you have probably never truly been part of it.

To answer the question: Yes, I live at home with my parents.
To expand on the question: I moved out when I was 17. When I was 19 I moved to Louisiana and worked offshore on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and saved every dime I made (other than bills) so I could use it to start the SR store. Then when I returned to SoCal I moved back in with my parents and spent all my money on SR which is what I'm still currently doing. They welcomed me home and that is thousands of dollars I am saving on rent that I can put towards growing my business. I am also, with the current economic and housing markets plummeting, looking to buy a home by next summer. Which is not a situation I expect any of you to be in so I am not trying to draw any comparisons or put anyone down I am just saying there actually is a world out there away from your parents... and it is a very different one and if you haven't experienced it then you can't really say anything about it or say anything about the way other people live their lives when they are out fending for themselves like TWAN, who this thread is ACTUALLY about, not anyone else.

Also, the novel I posted was solely supporting Twan NOT trying to tear apart anyone else. I did not even mention a single name other than TWAN because this is HIS thread. I did, however, point out that a 19 year old claiming they have no way to get money has seriously flawed logic if getting a job never crossed their mind. If you need money, you work and make money. If you need a car and gas and insurance then you work more to pay for it. I gave 2 pretty reasonable examples of people juggling work, school, vehicles, sports and a business to show that it is not some impossible thing to do and said to stop making excuses. It is my fault for posting that in this thread though because TWAN already knows those things so it doesn't really belong in HIS thread. SORRY.

Last but not least: NEVER did I say that after 20 you can never touch a scooter again if you aren't making money. What I said is that when you have to start juggling everything going on in your life at that age it becomes incredibly difficult to ride AS MUCH AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO. I know this because it happened to me and plenty others and will happen to all of you in the future. I never want to stop riding or slow down but things change that you have no control over which is why I had to adapt for these changes by turning SR into my business so I could still ride whenever I want, wherever I want because in the end that is my passion and I do not want circumstances in my life to get in the way of my riding. The same goes for TWAN. RIDING is his number one priority because he loves it and he will do anything to be able to ride as much as he can for as long as he can but at the same time he is a very competitive person (which I have already stated why that is not a bad thing). He loves riding and he strives to be the best. I still don't understand how this doesn't make sense or how anyone could look down on someone doing whatever they can just to be able to prolong their riding.
