Well,

my FSA took forever to get on... they go in and out WAYYY tighter than stock headsets... next... SR forks.

I have my forks, and i have the little thing that goes above the top cup (that the compression ring goes inside) and the compression ring all on there.

The part that I'm just really confused on is the star nut... I don't get how it works. I mean just right now i could put the stem over the forks and i could clamp that bitch down but no compression system involved. is it supposed to be pulling down on the threads of the stem? I dont understand... call me stupid or something. I've never done anything with BMX forks/headsets before so I don't know what I'm doing. I can go get a picture of where im at too if that will help.

the starnut goes inside the stem

the stem goes on the forks

the bolt goes up through the forks and tightening on the starnut threads, thus pulling the sem down putting tension on the headset

then just tighten your clamp and your done

Andrew said he used a deep socket to hammer it in, do that. But make sure (like he said) that the socket doesn't push down on the very outside of the star nut, because that's the part that needs to flex.

Also, don't hammer on the very inside (the silver part) or you will smash the threads. Get a long socket that fits right around the silver part and use that.

Once you get it in the bars just hammer it down a little at a time then test it. If you set it too shallow it won't work and if you set it too deep it won't work but as long as it is shallow you can still fix it but if you go too deep you will need to get a new star nut and do it all over again so take your time.

I know this may sound dumb for the people who know how it works but for those of you who don't: THE STAR NUT GOES IN YOUR BARS!!! DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR FORKS!!! It is similar to BMX BUT NOT THE SAME!!!

I know i went out and did it wrong. my stem+ ttube and bars are all on the forks.. and i can tighten that down... but i dont know what Im supposed to hammer and where... I can read your guys posts all day and im still retarded haha. The point to where i got was basically everything was on... and i went to turn the bolt + star nut but the bolt just spins as does the star nut.... like its not catching anything. The star nut fits easily into the stem so i dont know how its supposed to catch in it. And if this star nut is supposed to be going into the t tube (like the bottom of it) i dont think this will work for me. I cut the bottom of mine off to use for fork reinforcements long ago.

As you can probably tell im lost.
call me up anyone who knows whats up lol ill be out there tryign to figure it out
