SR Threadless Forks

Alright, I had a pretty good explanation set up, but dumb friend turned off the computer. Anyway-

I got the fork, and the bolt was bent. Well I got a bike shop to put the star nut in, and they somehow kinda stipped out the star nut. Well after coaxing it for a while I got it in, but I used a compression cap thing from my FSA Pig, but then once it was on and tight (the fork/headset), the wheel scraped on the cap thing, so I had to grind the wheel down some, but now it's good. And the SR sticker is sweet too. And I clear coated the fork and it made it all shiny and kinda dark.

So yeah, after all this was done, it was good, and I can't wait to ride the fork for real.

andrew welded a cap directly in it so you dont have to use an fsa. and the starnut was easy to put in you just have to be patient gentle and make sure its straight all the time.

SOOO i ordered my SR fork. It came to my house and i guess you NEED the compression system for it to fit on my promodel.... brandon was telling me that for it to work i need an unsealed headset (such as the pig FSA headset) and the compression system to properly install my SR fork on my promodel is this true lol and how the fuck do i put it all together im confused!??!!

the starnut nut goes inside the bars, look on the other page as i said how the best way is to put it in. then the forks go on like normal and the bolt goes up though the bottom and tightens it down, then just tighten your clamp.

but i definetly need the SR compression system and a fsa pig headset?
You definitely need a thread less headset. The compression system is not necessary to ride the forks but it is highly recommended... you will see why as soon as you ride without it...

You ordered A forks but you are riding a Pro Model? I assume that is an A neck maybe on a Pro Model???

Scoot definitely looks good though.

Also, like Eric said the cap is built in so you didn't really need to do any of the grinding on your wheel... it probably would have taken less time to just tap the star nut in a little deeper. I wonder how the bike shop managed to strip the star nut??? Do you know for a fact the bolt was bent when you got it or did you notice it was bent when you got it back from the shop? Because if they tried to thread the bolt into the star nut then hammer the bolt to put the star nut in that would definitely cause the star nut to strip AND the bolt to bend. Those bolts are Grade 12.9 which means they are about 100x stronger than they really need to be so the US Mail would have had to have been pretty damn rough with your package to have bent it... plus I ship the bolts inside the forks to protect them so I think it's almost impossible that it came bent... but I could be wrong.

Oh and in the Your Scooter thread one of the front shots of your scoot it looks like your lower bearing cup is not pressed in all the way because you can see a little bit of light around the edge of the head tube... might want to check that unless its just in the picture...

Yeah, it's an old B, but I have an old A neck so I need it anyway.

The bolt was bent from the beginning, and I didn't give them the bolt when I took it to the shop. Maybe they used a bolt? I dunno.

And yeah, it would have and was easier to tap the star nut in a little farther, I just did that a couple minutes ago and tightened it down all the way so it's solid. So no problems anymore, and get ready to see some toothpicks! Maybe.

Edit: Yeah the bottom cup isn't all the way in, it's been like that since I got it, I tried hammering it in more but it's pretty much as far as it'll go. I've been riding it like that for at least a year or so, so that's not a problem.

Sealed threadless headsets have sealed bearings, not loose ball bearings. Sealed bearings mean less to take care of, easier to install, mostly oil-free, easy to clean and more durability.
