Aluminum is a lot lighter and more rigid, but since it's more rigid it doesn't give as smooth of a ride as chromoly. So it's basically whatever floats your boat, my bike is aluminum and it's been good for me.

Magaiver, what brand is this track bike? I'm very interested.

It was assembled from various parts so it has no brand, I know the frame is a monaco alluminum frame with track dropouts and formula track hubs, thats all I know, he couldnt finish revising it today (bike's been put aside for a while now) I'll have to wait a little more, but once I have i'll take lots of pictures. It'll be my first fixed gear im very excited to try it.
Right now I ride a caloi sprint road bike.

My old road bike a Gios Road Pro, got stolen in 07

And my current bike a Caloir Sprint

I'm getting the fixie to ride around town since its so simple it wont attract the thieves attention, no gears, no brakes they dont want, while with my sprint wich was quite expensive im always afraid of getting robbed or something, i'll it only for riding with the local road racing team.
I need one of those New York chain locks from kryptonite, I've lost 4 bikes so far and even tough I have a car I just cant get away from bikes.

Haha, well for that Ebay link you'd need a 700 by 23c tires (700 is the diameter and 23 is the width), then you gotta get any track cog, tell me your chainring size so I can figure that one out, then for the innertube get a 700 one, of course.

Eh, can anyone give any pros of riding with that kind of handlebars, except if you're a pro cyclist or something? It just doesn't make sense to me.

What bars? Drops? Like these:

Well they feel a lot nicer, unless they're mad low. When you're on the drops (or horns if you have bullhorns) it's way more ergonomic than risers or flat bars.

Got the bike today.

Here what I know of the specs.

Monaco Alluminum frame
Vicini fork
Formula track hubs
Vzan spin rims
GTS handle bar and stem

The gear ratio is very heavy since its was meant to be ridden on a velodrome but I'll get a new front sprocket as soon as I can. Stoping this things without brakes going downhill's impossible.
And its suposed to look old and bad since I dont wanna attract thieves attention.
My first fixed gear and im loving it, rode it today for about 2 hours to get used to it and all I have to say is: Fuck having a million gears one's enough.

52 on the fron and 16 on the back or something all I know is that its damn heavy. And looking at last picture theres seems to be some sort of dent on my cog. Tomoroow ill look for a cog with more teeth to lighten up the ride.
Street fixed gears are too new and not known around here, everyone tought I was crazy wanting to ride a fixed bike on traffic, but the guy that sold me the bike has a friend whos really into fixed gears and he might have a new cog or sprocket for me. And it has this wierd rattling noise when riding and want to see whats that, might be the bad cog.

Edit: What would be a good cog size for my 52 teeth sprocket?
