A few people have bent their V.1 but no one to my knowledge has actually snapped or broken them and most of the people who bent them are still riding them. The V.2 is at a whole new level though... no one will be bending those any time soon...

If you are willing to spend that much just throw in a little more and get BUFF bars unless you absolutely hate the way they look. They are just as solid as one piece bars and all the parts are interchangeable and if you are worried about weight... you wouldn't even be able to tel the difference.
