New: Phoenix tlc fork

So, they took HIC and they made it more complicated for no purpose ... ?

It's not more complicated, They removed the need for a top cap, All you have to do is hand tighten the shim onto the fork slide your bars on tighten the clamp and its good.

I mean a threaded hic shim that fits regular bars...I wouldnt buy this fork to use a regular hic shim,I could just get a phorx

SO. ITS JUST THREADED COMPRESSION THAT LOOKS COOL!

everyone thinks its so cool, but its just a hic shim that is threaded. i dont think its cool. But phoenix is smart. they are gonna make money off this so why not?

I like how no one pointed out how stupidly hard it would be to get the slit in the shim lined up with the one in your bars. You would need to have no spacers, and the exact legnth headtube and the right size headset stack. Pretty pointless, threaded inserts are by far the best.

the bars are not threaded

the bars are not threaded

the bars are not threaded

the bars are not threaded

the SHIM is threaded onto the FORK then a bolt goes through the SHIM into the FORK and the bars clamp onto it all.

it's unnecessary but whatever, kinda neat.
i think thats how it works at least

when i saw the pic of the fork my firs thought was: Robs gonna have to delete? edit the sticky about bars being threaded i thought you screw them on and i was like phase palm

You don't need to use a compression bolt. You screw the shim on and that's what compresses it. The reason it's good is because when you clamp your bars on, the shim will never rotate because it's threaded on and clamped. That makes it way harder for bars to get off-center.

Brandon might be the smartest person on here.

I was about to post how stupid and pointless this was, especially since phorx already have an integrated starnut, and they work perfect with all compression systems, until I saw brandons comment. Makes sense now.

Only question is how the HELL could you tighten it enough by hand? They need to put an Allen key hole at the top of the shim so you can tighten it.

To me it's a smart idea, and i see all the points made, but how could this be more expensive, same fork w/ a couple threads, it will probably be LESS expensive.

you guys are stupid, theres a reason the threads dont go all the way down the fork, theres no way that the threads will break, there not on the pressure point
