Like its been stated :
scientists say that the probability of random chance of life surviving without a designer is so ridiculous (like 1/10^25)

Micro evolution is possible-it makes perfect sense. But Macro evolution has been disproven and is ridiculous imho.

Christianity has not been disproven. In fact, it has been proven to a significant extent. Enough to even change many skepticals.

Atheism is ridiculous in general. I dont know if christianity is the right way, but SOME higher power created all of this. We just dont know.
there were a few posts i was going to quote in this thread, but i'll just start here since i love you <3.

1st bold - not true, plain and simple.

2nd bold - not true at all. First off, if you look at the case of jesus, there are no roman records that prove that pontius pilate executed a man named jesus. The fact that a group of christian officials voted on what books to be put into the bible shows it is not the word of GOD, but the word of primitive men. Jesus supposedly died in 33ad, the first scripture of the bible, mark, picks up around 70ad, leaving a 40 year gap. In those 40 years, the only person who was said to even talk about jesus was paul, but he told anecdotes about a magical man who got crucified, never mentioned any miracles or any of jesus's life, only the crucifixion and the birth, and he said that this character was just made up, therefore, hardly anyone even talked about jesus after he died, why? because he was nothing special...

if you look at other pagan gods that came before jesus, horus and dionysus for example, they all share the same attributes as jesus (born on december 25, sold for 30 pieces of silver/gold, betrayed, crucified, miracles, gods son), which means that jesus was nothing new. the character of jesus has been around for thousands of years in hundreds and hundreds of religions with different names, and you know why? because jesus being the son of god is completely fictional.

i'll stop here with christianity because i could go on all day, but as far as gods existance, i don't believe in god. You can all say i'm naive, but honestly, how much sense does a god make to you? some sort of deity, somewhere else, who watches over us, and hears our prayers, and helps us? if theres a omnipotent god, why will thousands of people die tonight because they have nothing to eat?

in my opinion, christianity and the concept of god is just a made up story to answer the question of, "how did we get here?", even though it makes no sense at all, people still believe it because people like answers. Just because you don't have the answer to something doesn't mean you can just make up something and it is right, if i was to believe in god, something that i can't hear, see, touch, or have any idea that a god is there, then what's saying i can't believe in unicorns and pixie dust and flying cars and any other bullshit you can think up? of course i can believe it, but what i'm trying to say is, that doesn't make it even remotely right.

edit: and i'm sick of people saying atheism is the "easy way out", no, that's bullshit. it's what makes sense to me, plain and simple.

before there was a universe..before anything..ANYTHING i mean...who made just everything..just imagine if there was no such thing as everything in the universe..SOMEONE had to have made everythjing in the beginning..i mean how did anything ever just randomly begin..?i mean what was BEFORE the beggining?...how did those "rocks" get made to make the big what people call "bang"?

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¦Ã¢â?¬Å?Let there be light,Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â??Ã? and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

6 And God said, Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â?¦Ã¢â?¬Å?Let there be an expanse [1] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ?¬Å¡Ã?¬Ã?â??Ã? 7 And God made [2] the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven. [3] And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

creationism? please dude, that's just ridiculous.

and if you want to say well blah blah blah how did the rocks get here (even though that's not right at all), then how did god get here? i know that's been played out alot but it's true.

i don't see why people care, why not just live your life as ethically as possible, and hey, if there is an afterlife and a god, i would think an ethical atheist would be looked at better than a "saved" rapist, and if not, then hey, i'd rather be burning in hell with kids like my than with christian radicals.

i cant believe you guys are having a debate about religion on a scooter website..

Religion was created by man to compensate for the fear of death, and what happens afterwards. most people can't accept the fact that after you die you rot in the ground, so they tell themselves that there is something to look forward to after death, and turn to religion to back that up. every religious document was written by man. every single one. it's all bullsh!t.

Ive read a bit from both points of view, so im happy with where im at. I could lend you a book from both sides about creationism if youd like <3

But you cant change point number 1 on my list, its nearly impossible that by random chance EVERY condition we have is so perfectly met for out standards of living. Its like taking one person out of the entire earth, and by random selection that person is a scooter rider: odds are highly stacked. Believing in a higher power is the only answer to the question "how do we get here", I can be open minded to any religion, but athiesm just plainly does not seem like an option.

dude, honestly, i'm really surprised by you saying that. you've always been totally logical in what you've said, but you're missing a lot of shit in what you just posted.

just because ROMAN historians didn't talk extensively about jesus (obviously, why would they mention some guy that they considered a common criminal) does not mean that the stories of his life were incorrect. ever hear of josephus? one of the most respected historians of his era? the guy that is one of the leading sources when it comes to historical accounts of jesus? because he goes into much greater detail about him than the romans did, for obvious reasons. he was jewish. the romans didn't like the jews, so why would they chronicle the lives of their simple people?

and citing the stories about horus and dionysus is complete bullshit. get your facts from REAL sources. a movie that claims that the united states government planted bombs on the twin towers to cause them to collapse is far from a credible source.

you're COMPLETELY missing the the point behind the gospels, just like pretty much every critic of the christian faith does. the bible, especially the new testament, was meant as a guideline for christians to lead their life. it is NOT meant to be taken as fact. the biblical authors portrayed jesus in the same way that they portrayed pagan gods so it would be easier for pagans of the time to relate to jesus. is it right, no? but is it logical? completely.

again, the biblical stories are NOT fact, they are aids to help people lead a better life. someone try to tell me that following the advice that jesus gives in the bible won't make you a better person? you can't, and thats the whole idea behind the biblical text.

yes, i'm aware that many people take the bible as fact, but they're just as dumb as the people that try to claim that the bible is useless.

i worship aslan. haha.

but i do beleive in a higher being and an after life. i dont follow any religion. but i like to think my way of life reflects on what happens in the afterlife. i have no proof it will happen. its just what i put my faith in.

i pray, everynow and then, when i feel unsure of something i will ask for guidance. after i pray, i feel better and abit clearer on things. i may or may not be acutally communicating with anyone, but if it makes me or anyone else feel slightly better, whats the big deal?

OK the way i see it is god is real as a belief he is only real as long as people believe in him/her/it, god is just a part of the collective unconscious. We will only ever know if god is not real when we find a solid reason for our existence. ITS an endless argument because no one can have an incorrect opinion

1st bold - haha i know that was said in zeitgeist, but i've looked that up and it is true.

2nd bold - i'm not arguing that the new testament isn't a good moral guide to live, i'm saying it isn't necessarily true, because i hate it when people take the bible as complete 100% fact.

yeah, if you look at MOST of jesus's life, he was a complete role model and the stories of the bible are what I would consider fables, because they teach you lessons.

but as i said before, that doesn't make it necessarily true, don't think i'm arguing jesus was a bad person or like a pedophile like scientologists claim, the biblical jesus was a role model and a good person, but i still don't believe his life stories were true.

basically, i think the bible should be put in the self help sections in book stores, because that's all it is, is a moral guide, some need it, some don't, i don't.
