i think an application process would be great, but an invitation may be taking it too far, people who are not well known, like me, but still use the forum regularly should be able to sign up.

I have never been on a single forum that I had to fill out an application for. That's just ridiculous. And the idea of invitation-only is even more stupid. It's a forum, not an exclusive club. I know all you guys want things to "go back to how they used to be" but that isn't going to happen, and moderators trying to exclude people from fairly joining the site just because they have some misguided sentiment about when the sport was young are just going to bring the site downhill in the long run.
And don't try to use spambots as justification, because there are much more effective, and less intrusive, ways of dealing with them. This is just about picking and choosing who you want to join the site, and that's bullshit.

How? We (the mods) have all been brainstorming about it. It just happened to be the one to make the thread asking for everyone's thoughts.
If you guys took a look at my post at the way beginning of the thread, I said that its very likely that this won't even happen so don't just rage. This is exactly why I told people to reply with either "YES" or "NO" as their answer to whether or not they would be in favor of this.

I am not raging. I am not upset. I just don't understand what the big deal is. I think in a couple years you'll realize how childish it is to try and control a mass of people, not to mention the fact that this site is recognized as a community.
