No

From past experiences with forums doing this usually causes a pain for the forum staff and people trying to join the forum, if there is a spam bot you can tell by simple signs (self VMing, generic names, inactivity, spam post or threads) keeping an eye on account activity s usually the key, as in check new members accounts a couple hours after they join.

i dont think we should do it. i understand that there is drama on the site, but if someone has a scooter related questions then its our job to work together as a community to answer them regardless if they are annoying or not. we shouldnt single anyone out, we are all scooter riders.

This has been in the talks for a while, so like the original post said, dont get your hopes up.

But my in my opinion, its theoretically a good idea, but not a practical one. How can you judge who you want on here if they havent posted anything yet? Its not like theyre gonna fill out an application and say "hey guys, Im a skater that wants to make fun of you and troll your site beyond belief" or just straight up tell us that theyre an immature asswipe.
Theres no way to tell how the person will contribute to the site without them actually joining. And we also shouldnt deny people just because we dont want them here, I feel liek that would give SR some shitty publicity if anything, along with slowing down any growth of the site.

This is mainly for bots..

Yes, or at least something to keep the bots out, like one of those questions like how many letters in google or how many fingers on your left hand.

it should be a scooter related question so its harder for bots to get by. idk like 'what does the acronym SCS stand for?'

This or something really easy, like give them such a hint actual people couldnt mess up. Because what if a dad trying to help his son out comes on here and doesnt know what scs is?

as said before, if someone is too lazy to fill out an application, they probably wont be a good part of the community.

^^^ Just set it up already. Everyone bitching needs to stop, you dont even have to fill it out. People that have questions about scooters can search it on google and find what they are looking for on here without an account, its not like what is happening to them has never happened before. This should have been what you have had to do the entire time, it takes literally 2 minutes too fill a form out. Making it so you have to get invited is too much. You should just have to fill out a simple form and have it accepted by a mod. They are on here everyday anyway.
