3CCD SD Vs. CMOS HD

So pretty much pick your side, give your arguement.

I'm going to have to go with SD for filming, the price for a HD camera with manual control and 3CCD's is tooooo high. Aside from that, I enjoy seeing the rustic looking footage from VX, but I always get bored when watching HD. It has no color to it, it just seems blank to me. I really dont think it goes with any of the sports. (Scootering, BMX or Skateing.)

hd. unless its a 100b.
even if it has a few less controls. the vx1k is an absolute antique. its a dinosaur. the video quality honestly kinda sucks. i mean its a ford model t versus a new honda accord.
it also sounds way better when you say your cam shoots in 1080i then saying "yea its 15 years old, shoots in standard deff but HEY its got a cool handle and pretty colors"

It's like megapixels on a camera - they don't really matter, the quality of colours and stuff is more important. Resolution takes second priority imo

you made the right choice. 3ccd means nothing really. way too over hyped.
gs320 is 3ccd, doesnt mean its better than a 1 chip cmos cam.

Dude, its a hell of a lot better. And why do you always compare hv's to the vx1000?

vx1k is the most popular 3ccd cam and hv30 is the most popular one chip hd. (in extreme sports. its not "better" its bigger and has ever so slightly better colors. yea rolling shutter is the main argument, and fisheye is the second. the rolling shutter isnt bad (not even noticeable on the hv) and who cares about fisheye. you can put any fisheye on anything. the only 3ccd cams i would use are the dvx100 and maybe the vx21. i like to have good image quality, not just complete control.

ok let me explain myself alittle better

hd is obviously better than sd
no
a GOOD hd camcorder will always be better than a good sd camcorder. if you are trying to compare a flip hd to a dvx100 then yea thats ridiculous.
but if you are talking about older prosumer/ newer consumer sd camcorders they really arent going to match up with newer higher end consumer/ prosumer HD cameras. you really cant argue that sd is dying. its pretty much dead in the prosumer industry.

LIL TONY SHUT THE HELL UP

Your opinion is fucking horrible. 3ccd over HD all day.

If your serious about filming and your going to be making DVDs, SD is the way to go. Your DVD will sell so much more if its in SD. Most people still don't have HDTVs.

How is HD always better than SD? Because the picture is bigger? Like what are you tryin to get at? Bigger isn't always better. Enjoy your CMOS rolling shutter. I can deal with my bleeding red 3CCD sensors, its avoidable.

Yeah, HD is nice and all... but half of the kids arguing that it is better are filming and putting their fuckin videos on YOUTUBE. Are you fucking kidding me? You just killed your HD quality right there. If your going to be compressing your HD, what the fuck is the point of having it in the first place.

All of the kids in my school refuse to shoot in SD since there is HD cameras available for rent... i always ask them why, they say because it looks better. I ask them what they are going to do with their video, they answer put it on youtube... why not save your self a shit load of hard drive space, be able to edit faster, receive better colors, not have to worry about shitty encoded video, and just shoot SD picture than? These kids seriously think they present a portfolio to a school or at a job interview on fucking youtube...

I'm not gonna be able to argue or back up my point because technically I am retarded and incorrect, and I know that haha. But if a good videographer were to release the same video with a vx1k settup and an hv30 with a decent external mic and they knew how to use both, I would rather watch the hv30. That's all I have to say really.

You do realize that they make 3CCD HD camera's, don't you? Only HD camera company that has made the switch to a different chip system is Sony, with the CMOS chips. But they will produce cameras like the Sony HDRFX1 which uses 3CCD chips.

HD 3CCD all day, eff that CMOS nonsense.
