NEVER use chest (rub vaso etc.) it hardens and fucks up your bearings. for example, my friend put vaso in his headset in ten minutes, it hardend, he was like fuck it, kept riding 10 minutes later, the bearings inside exploded.

My bearings don't have removable thing. They just have shields on both sides, is there anyway to take them off without fucking the bearing?

Also, someone on the last page asked why to not use wd-40...
1. It attracts dirt/dust/crap
2. It will eat the fuck out of plastic and rubber in bearings
3. It will break down oils, lubes and greases
4. It is water based, water = rust, rust = FAIL

That's the way..... I bought the bones container/cleaner. Sweet as he'll and does a mess free job of cleaning.

would brake cleaner be a good solvent and wat about hydrogen peroxide ?

i use rubbing alcohol,

but i COMPLETLY disassemble my bearings, dip them in alcohol, wipe the races down of any dirt, and precision clean the spacer haha, and grease and put together, it might be much but my swisses have lasted me soo long and still spin like a ninja

i longboard and when bombing hills, the difference between a rusty set and ceramics makes bombing the hill scary or not.

and idk what jdub said about the vert/pools and high speed part. i used these no name, steel construction bearings that spun as well as ceramics, and they never slowed me down in any way.

the best bearings for action sports are reds, cheap, very good performance, and almost no maintainance required. never get ceramics for scooters/skateboards, cause they literally crack and break. get whatever as long as the balls inside are some type of metal.

I use a needle to take the softer shields off. I should make tutorials on how to do everything lol.

I used a razor to take the rubber seal off.
I take all covers off my bearings, soak in turpentine for depends how long.
Depending on how dirty or how much anything is in there i have to leave it for different times.
My front bearings were in for about half an hour. I still have some soaking now and have been in there for about 1 and a half days (il check them soon lmfao).
I put a few or more drops of this
160-182-large.jpg
into my bearings once they have been dried.
They HAVE to be dry before you put anything into them, because turps destroys lubricants and isnt one anyway. lol.
Can someone tell me what the lubricant i have is? Because i dont actualy know lmfao.
EDIT: Good thread, rename it bearing discussion thread because there is alot of info/good ideas/good discussion going on in here.

my friend showed me how to wear the grease into the bearings but it involves a spinney grinder thing = flatspot. so get a air compressor and use that to spin the wheel works heaps good!

Is there any problem running the bearings with only a tiny tiny bit of lube? Cause they spin better without lube imo. I mean, would it matter if I only put a tiny bit of lube in?
