Smart phones and tablets

I did some research on some different smart phones but still don't understand some things. I read that ICS or Ice Cream Sandwich is a "Ram Processer." (I think that's what you call it) And I also read that my phone (Samsung Stratosphere) might upgrade to ICS. Is that true? I'm kind of clueless when it comes to the inner technology in phones. Another question is: I am using the "Task Manager Widget" and I am using around 260mb out of the 380mb in my ram. Am I slowing down my phone? My last question is: Is there a way to delete the default apps? I really will never use apps like NFL Mobile, Amazon Kindle and Blockbuster.
I know I'm a noob but: Tips for people with Androids

Uninstall the games that come default on your phone! My phone came with Lets Golf 2 and it was 128megabytes. That was also on my phones internal storage which is only 2gigabytes. My phone also came with NFS Shift. That was 140megabytes and was also on my phones internal storage! You can't fully delete these games but you can "Uninstall updates" which brings it's size down to about 8kilobytes.

My last tip (I know I only have two) is that you should clear your browsers history and cache daily. I never cleared my history or cache for about a month and it said it took up 40megabytes of space! You should also clear your RAM daily and stop all apps that you are not using.

I didn't type this shit for nothing...

ram and processor are two different things. ics is a version of android firmware, ram is what stores your active tasks and the processor is what processes all the information. the better the processor the better the phone.
and you can delete those apps but i wouldnt know how, all ive really used is modified ics, which may be coming to your phone but i wouldnt hold my breath. you're better off rooting your phone and installing an ics rom. and that is an average amount of ram being used at once, my phone uses around that with nothing running. the problem with your phone running that much though, is it doesnt leave room for much else. you can a really really gutted firmware for that phone so it uses less and runs faster but i know nothing about roms for your phone.

@luke about roms, they're basically just different versions of firmware. if you want the best, just look for an ics rom for your phone, preferably made by caulkin. it basically frees up your phone and makes it faster, easier to mod ect.

I remember reading something about the android firmware being named after foods. It started as an inside joke sort of thing and just caught on.

Anthony: do you have a download link for a good ROM ? (Ice Cream sandwich or android 4.0.3?) And is there any danger in rooting your phone? Like legal issues or "Bricking" your phone.

Really! That's good! Apple would fuck your warranty if you jailbroke your phone... Lol

im still learning about all of this, it's pretty new to me so i dont know about most roms and stuff. you really have to do research before you try so you know what you're doing.

cookie, we dont need itunes, we can just download files for free with 4shared. which doesnt come in the apple app store. itunes can such a nut.

the xperia play is too slow to handle serious gaming, so it kinda defeats the purpose of the phone.

just get a gs2, gs3, xperia s, lumia 900 or htc one x. those are the best available atm.

overclocking at 1.4ghz on my epic 4g touch, shit passed the transformer prime in the benchmark, and if i just up it to 1.45 it will probably pass the quad core one x. which is amazing for a 1.2ghz dual core. the only 2 phones that are faster are the one x and the s3. i think im happy with my phones performance now.

edit: yea this is about as much as i can push.

have an andriod phone, what apps do you use to get music from, or do you just put them on from a computer?

i just want like minecraft and gta,
good luck with that. you wont be playing anything when your 1ghz scorpion starts lagging and you melt it trying to overclock and get some juice from it.

Spotify would be the least gay music app but it costs 10 bucks a month. Id just download them.

with our most recent upgrades i got a 4g lte pantech breakout, brother got droid razr (not max) and mom got iphone 4. razr kicks both my and my moms phones ass in every way, faster, more durable, helllllla long battery life and all of that. since i got a budget 4g phone its not amazing but i like it, and iphones just bother me.
