Don't worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.-Abraham Lincoln

I think that this quote sums it up pretty well.

im sorry i agree with kimbell

everyone on here has fun and just cuz they dont flow around and do one footers doesnt make it less fun, everyone rides for their own reasons and if they like hucking big ass tricks, then let them. theres deffinatly no one on here that thinks scootering isnt fun and if u disagree with that statement ur a fucktard

u dont get it. people just ride for the camera and you can tell in their videos and not just doing one footers is riding for fun its more of just doing lil tricks and just goofing around being creative and being your own style and have a bag of tricks that are your own

I wanted to make something like this thread after Conor Davidson replayed to my "21 high 26 wide" post with "That's disgusting."
I mean, I don't give a fuck about him being an admin... been far longer in this sport than him (and even on SR...), I was riding when he was only 10, and I simply can't stand such disrespect...
I know he doesn't even have a hand span of 26" wide, so him not being able to even grab both grips at the same time would probablly be the reason why he fins it disgusting, but that doesn't mean other people don't need/ride such bars with style...

I know I'm not a known name in the scene, and I actually like it, I don't post much on here, mostly reading trough, and the quality of the posts has gone soooo downhill these days it's ridiculous, and most of the posts coming from 16 years and younger kids who are just in for money and free parts...

Don't talk shit to him dude, he has sick style that a lot of people respect.

so lil tricks and goofing around is the only way u can have fun??

some people like going big, some people like being tech and they think its fun

im sorry but i totally disagree with u, u cant tell people how to have fun because its not the same for everyone

and yes of course people are gonna try harder and do bigger tricks for videos

I hate getting comments on YouTube of kids asking me if I can briflip and bartwist.
Drives me nuts. I don't touch scooter flips, it's just not my style of trick. I've tried them, just for the hell of it, but I've never landed one. And bartwists I tried, about four deep I rolled my ankle pretty bad on the brake. Haven't tried since, just don't think they're worth learning.
I think it's alright to try new stuff, but if you don't like it, or don't have fun learning them, it's not worth it.

I'll stick to what I like doing, surprisingly to most of you, isn't only superman combos, haha.

I think what Jake is saying, is to just ride for the fun of it, and not try and compete with the respected riders. That's how everyone is nowadays. "Briflips, bartwists and flips all the way." is the way all the newer riders treat riding.
I respect riders like Addy more, he does insane shit. Same with Jon Reyes and Dan Barrett. Nobody can do slider combos like Jon can, and nobody can kill a fakie manual combo like Dan. And you don't see them doing all the stereotypical tricks.

Fuck doing tricks, I have way more fun flowing a park and having a chill sesh with people than busting my ass to learn a bunch of tricks that everyone and their little brother can do nowadays.

Agreement on every level.

I cant ride for s.hit these days, but i head to the park to roll around, throw a barspin every here and there, manual everywhere, inverts and turndowns as long as there smooth and have style i leave feeling happy and in one piece..

i dont really care for the new age tricks.
id prefer old school bmx style riding when thats what we used to look up to..
but everything always progresses in to its new age, thats something we all live with..
we make our own style.

Another thing, kids treat us OG riders like noobs just coming onto the scene because we don't do briflip and backflip combos. Even if they are doing some of the tricks that us OG riders landed first years before their time. It's just ridiculous to see that we don't get the respect we deserve. I'd go as far as to call us the Tony Alva's, Stacy Peralta's, etc of our sport. But still, all our hard work goes unoticed. Even if it lead to what the majority of the sport is doing today. Reality is, no scooter rider is stepping it up as much as we did back in the day. With these dialed scooters, we did this intense shit on practically stock scooters, with combos that are still crazy today. But done years ago. In my opinion, aside from a very select handful, nobody can compete with the NBS days of riding. The scene was just so much more chill, less politics and a lot more shit being thrown down and stepped up. Difference between then and now, we still had steez back then. Nowadays it's a majority huck, no style.

Nice story bro, I used to respect him too... but you can't go around bashing on people saying "disgusting" just couse you're an admin and think you're cool...at that point he lost my respect...

yeah i agree to an extent. You guys, EZscoot, Kamakazzy and Twizted, Skooterbitch, old Razor, were the straight up OG's of teams who inspired people. Scooter Insanity came in about a year afterwards so i couldnt consider us the beggining squad, but still i think all of us shaped scooters in some way or another. Im still diggin the progression, it just sucks seeing people who have been riding for a year or two think your a noob </3.

Sho fo. The Philly riders were straight street, flatbar and kicker riders. Silas and Al were killing manual combos and before they both quit were starting to kill park too. I just remember the SKAT Forum days, pretty much everyone was chill, except for Josh Silverman and Brandon Franklin, they were dipshits at the time, haha.
