Its a REALLY good idea to wear a helmet in case you do hit your head, but no one really wears helmets when riding street. I used to wear one when I was beginning and scared of like 4/5 stairs, but I don't anymore.

Its a lubricant that works really well with bearings. You can find it at just about any hardware store for like 3-5 dollars a bottle.

try oiling the heck out of them with 3in1 and wear them in if that doesnt work, remove them, then reinstall
